The year is coming to a close
As the year is coming to a close it is time to look back for a moment. Maybe this year has been a blast, filled with good surprises, achievement, love, new beginnings and everything you wanted. Or… it might have been a very challenging year. One you are glad to see the end of. Perhaps it has not been anything special at all, just another year.
Whatever this year has been or has held for you, it is now a part of your life, history and the stories you bring with you. For good or bad, it has formed and shaped you.
Allow yourself a moment to look back while you reflect
- What has this year brought you?
- Who did you have to be to achieve, overcome or accomplish what came your way?
- Did you learn anything this year? How will you use your new insight?
- What has been the biggest gift? What are you grateful for?
- Are there any regrets? What will you do about it?
- Looking back over the last 12 months, what will you bring with you into the new year soon to come?
What if?
With still a couple of weeks left, what can you do to end this year in a way that makes you happy, fulfilled or proud? Only you know what that means for you.
What if this Christmas becomes one to look back at next year with a warm feeling of gratitude?
Gratitude
My heart aches with the thought that you might not feel that you have anything to be grateful for. I know that can ring true for too many. Sometimes it can feel like there really is nothing. I am not suggesting a Pollyanna game of positivity, but I invite you to search until you find a nugget of gratitude. Even the smallest one is valuable. Do it for you.
Are you one of the fortunate ones with an abundance all around you? My invitation to you is to take a moment and give of your time to someone whose day would be filled with light from being seen.
Belonging
One of the most important things we can give each other is a sense of belonging. That someone will miss us and ask about us if we don’t show up. Forget Facebook and social media. Use the phone, send a letter, go for a visit, invite people into your home and heart. Forget a pretty facade. Be real, authentic and know that you are good enough and that your time and heart is all that is needed to brighten someone’s day. Including your own.
Oh… and a tip: Really do not believe that pretty, glittery FB stories is all there is. That is just a fragment of the whole story, a part of a picture. Even the (seemingly) most successful people might be lonely on the inside.
The voice inside
As the year comes to a close, what is being called forth in you? What has been simmering and stirring for a while? You know deep within that it is time to listen to the voice that has been calling. Hear its sound. Listen to your heart and soul. And while you listen, know that deep within you there is a courage, a strength and a will that is ready to wake up.
All the best!
