To Dream or Not to Dream
To dream or not to dream makes the difference. So, let’s talk about what you want. Stop for a minute and ponder. What is it you truly dream of? Listen to what your heart is yearning for? If nothing and nobody was standing in your way what would you do?
What strength, quality, talent, attitude, behavior, and resources would you need to live your best life?
Dream the future
Who would you need to be to achieve your dream? Where do you need to stretch a little further to reach that deep fulfilling sense of accomplishment and mastery? To simply shout “YES!!!!” at the top of your lungs? Or to dance with joy, or to just sit quietly; being present to a sense of belonging and an infinite feeling of pure bliss? What story would you need to create to find the courage to take the next step?
Do you know what your dream, or best life, look like?
Utopia and out of reach?
Maybe you don’t believe in dreams and your ”best life” is just a utopian dream created by the perfection of “everybody else”, social media, the film industry, and celebrities?
I don’t know what your best life looks like or what your dream is, but I am pretty sure that deep inside you there is a longing for something that feels just out of reach. Even if you won’t admit to dreaming and your life is pretty ok as it is. Dreaming is still a big part of what creates the future and you and I are both parts of that future.
The best way to predict the future and to create your best life is to invent it. Everything in this world and life begins with a sense of that something that we cannot quite put words to, explain or touch. It has an essence-energy followed by thoughts, ideas, a feeling or a wanting, hopes, fears and dreams.
Pay attention
Listening to your dream is not selfish or egoistic. When you listen to what your heart and soul truly long for and you start taking those first tiny steps towards it, you start on a journey that is transformative and inspiring. You become who you are and who you were meant to be. Your days are filled with deeper meaning and purpose. You gain confidence, build self-esteem and you grow strong, happier and more fulfilled.
Dare to put yourself first
Finding and following the path towards your dream and best life is not easy, and many give up along the way. Obstacles and challenges will test your determination. If you stay on the path you will learn, grow and gain valuable insights along the way. Sometimes you will feel stuck, and lose sight of where you are headed. You might even lose faith in yourself and your abilities for a while. It will feel scary and crazy to continue. Maybe you will want to turn around and find a less challenging path. Or you will listen to the voices – yours and others – who tell you that you cannot or should not do it.
It may require that you put yourself first, no longer accommodating the needs of others. You might need to say “no”, set different boundaries and tolerate the opinion of others as you rock the boat.
Overcome challenges
Standing up for yourself and making new and different choices is part of the challenge. It is life in a nutshell. You will need to pause and check in with your purpose. Course correction along the way will be important, so remember to check and ask yourself if you are on the right path. Is there alignment between your beliefs and values? Or are you stuck in fear with all the “good reasons” that fear presents to you? Who will you need to be to continue? What will you have to say no to in order to continue towards the life you want?

Is the way you are living in alignment with your dream?
What one thing can you add to your daily schedule that reminds you of your dream and helps you bring it alive today?
Dreaming and living your best life is not about a distant goal in the far future, although that may be part of it. It is bringing your dream alive today, in this moment, by adding attitudes and behaviors that support the dream. It is connecting emotionally with the dream, your best life, and visioning yourself in that picture.
